We were quite surprised and disappointed to read your review of your stay with us on 12th June. Our hotel is located just under one mile from the departure terminal on the airport site and for those guests who book one of our Park & Fly packages we provide very convenient complimentary minibus transfers to and from the airport. On those rare occasions when the minibus is unavailable we provide taxi transfers at our cost.
For all other guests we provide pre-booked transfers to and from the airport at a cost of £3 per adult per journey, children go free, on a subject to availability basis.
The only taxi firm based at East Midlands Airport currently charge £7 per journey so a family of four make a saving of £2 if they elect to use our minibus service and a solo traveller will save £8.
On 12th June our minibus was in the garage for unplanned maintenance and therefore was not available so on your behalf our Front Office team booked your airport transfer with the only taxi firm based at East Midlands Airport.
When you were ready to depart the hotel only one taxi had arrived and another couple were also ready to depart and therefore you were asked if you wished to share the available taxi or wait for your taxi to arrive, as you were paying for the taxi you declined this opportunity.
With regard to the complimentary upgrade to which you believe you were entitled. You are a Club Carlson Gold Elite member which entitles you to a room upgrade if one is available as defined below:
1. Complimentary Room Upgrade: is available only when the Elite member is the registered guest. One complimentary room upgrade per Elite member per Eligible Stay. Room upgrade is determined by the participating hotel depending on availability at time of check-in. Room upgrades vary by property and by room category, and may include a room in a preferred location, a room with a preferred view, or a recently renovated room. Concierge Elite members may be eligible for an upgrade to the next room category or to a standard suite, if available.
On 12th June you had booked a standard room but you had also booked an E-standby room upgrade at a cost of £30. E-standby upgrades are also subject to availability and when available are chargeable on arrival but on this occasion our excellent Front Office team waived this charge as a gesture of goodwill and upgraded you to a Business Class Room.
Mr Thomas, we're sorry if you were disappointed with your recent stay but the vast majority of our guests find the transfer service we provide to be efficient and convenient. Should guests not wish to use our transfer service they may of course make their own arrangements.
